In addition to valuable lessons about working with money, CUNA has included lessons about doing things without money: How to have fun without money, and the value of gifts that don't cost anything.
Each lesson is a project for child and parent. The worksheet includes the basis of the lesson (such as "How can I teach my preschooler not to lose money?"), the importance of the lesson, project materials and steps, ideas to talk about, and notes for adapting the project (such as to include older or younger siblings or combine this project with that of another lesson).
The projects are geared to appeal to young children. They are hands-on, with plenty of opportunity for coloring, decorating and other forms of creative expression. Kids can turn an empty butter tub into a snazzy savings jar, create a chore calendar, or fill a shoebox with free activity ideas.
